Mobile

When I was a researcher at a Japanese neuroscience institute I learned how to live in keitai (ケータイ) culture. Having come from the U.S. I was totally unprepared for the ways in which mobile phones choreograph life in Japan and I’ve been fascinated ever since.

My first phone in Japan, the Panasonic P905i flipped open in two directions and had a tv antenna

With DoCoMo’s おサイフケータイ (osaifu keitai, “mobile wallet”) payment system ubiquitous, my whole day was orchestrated by my cellphone and imagination.

Now I help teams make magical mobile experiences here in the States as well.
